ITO, Ward-5(1), Pune. 589, Sandesh Nagar, Market Yard, S.O., Pune City, Pune- 411037. PAN : AQMPA0337N Appellant Respondent Assessee by None : Revenue by : Ms. Bhavya I. V. Date of hearing : 20.07.2026 Date of pronouncement : 28.07.2026 आदेश / ORDER PER VINAY BHAMORE, JM: This appeal filed by the assessee is directed against the order dated 29.01.2025 passed by Ld. CIT(A)/NFAC for the assessment year 2016-17. 2. Facts of the case, in brief, are that the assessee is an individual salaried employee and has not furnished his original return of income for the period under consideration. On the basis

2 ITA No.731/PUN/2025 of information that huge money (Rs.1,48,29,377/-) was deposited by assessee in the account maintained with M/s Shri Renuka Mata Multi State Urban Cooperative Credit Society Ltd., however, sources of above cash deposit has not been disclosed by filing return of income, the case of the assessee was reopened u/s 147 of the IT Act and notice u/s 148 of the IT Act was issued to the assessee on 28.03.2023. The assessee furnished return of income on 25.04.2023 in response to above notice u/s 148 of the IT Act by declaring income of Rs.1,22,000/-. Subsequently, notices u/s 143(2) & 142(1) and show cause notice respectively were issued to the assessee. The assessee in response submitted that he is only an employee working in M/s. Kapil Enterprises at a monthly salary of Rs.9,000/- only. The assessee has not furnished any documents in support of his contentions, therefore, the Assessing Officer vide order dated 26.02.2024 completed the assessment proceedings u/s 147 r.w.s. 144B of the IT Act by determining the income of the assessee at Rs.1,49,51,377/- as against the income of Rs.1,22,000/- retuned by the assessee. The above assessed income includes addition of Rs.1,48,29,377/- being unexplained money u/s 69A of the IT Act.

3 ITA No.731/PUN/2025 3. Being aggrieved with the above assessment order, the assessee preferred an appeal before Ld. CIT(A)/NFAC. After considering the written submissions furnished by the assessee, Ld. CIT(A)/NFAC dismissed the appeal filed by the assessee. 4. It is the above order against which the assessee is in appeal before this Tribunal. 5. When the appeal was called for hearing, neither anybody appeared on behalf of the appellant-assessee nor any application for adjournment was filed. This is 10th occasion when the case was listed for hearing, therefore, we proceed to decide the appeal on the basis of material available on record as well as after hearing Ld. DR. 6. We have heard Ld. DR and perused the material available on record. In this regard, we find that on earlier occasions the case was adjourned, even today also when the case was called for hearing, neither anybody appeared nor any application for adjournment was filed, despite intimation of the date of hearing. 7. Since no submission was made before us by the assessee in support of grounds of appeal, we are unable to draw any inference. We therefore confirm the order passed by Ld. CIT(A)/NFAC and

4 ITA No.731/PUN/2025 accordingly, dismiss the appeal filed by the assessee. Thus, the grounds of appeal raised by the assessee are dismissed. 8. In the result, the appeal filed by the assessee is dismissed. Order pronounced on this 28th day of July, 2026. Sd/- Sd/- (R. K.
